Asch, Sholem
(1 nov. 1880, Kutno, Polonia, Imperio ruso–10 jul. 1957, Londres, Inglaterra).

Novelista y dramaturgo estadounidense nacido en Polonia. La mayoría de sus escritos tratan sobre la experiencia de los judíos en los pueblos de la Europa oriental o como inmigrantes en EE.UU. (país al que emigró en 1914). Su producción incluye la pieza teatral The God of Vengeance [El dios de la venganza] (1907) y las novelas Mottke el ladrón (1916), Moisés (1918), Judge Not [No juzgarás] (1926) y El regreso de Chaim Lederer (1927). En obras posteriores, más polémicas, exploró el patrimonio común del judaísmo y el cristianismo. De carrera sobresaliente, tanto por su producción como por lo impactante de esta, es uno de los escritores más conocidos de la literatura yiddish moderna.
